About Eric

Eric Diven is a Vermont-based furniture-maker with a passion for custom projects. He often draws on Arts and Crafts or Shaker designs for inspiration, and loves solving problems for clients who have a vision for the furniture they want to fit into their homes.

Left to his own devices, Eric has a tendency to build illuminated sculptural pieces, chairs, and clocks; usually not all at once. He tends to look to the work of James Krenov when a client is looking for a contemporary statement piece.

Eric graduated from the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts and founded Long Walk Woodworking LLC in 2019 in Somerville, Massachusetts. After relocating to Vermont in early 2020, he now works out of his shop in West Fairlee, VT.

Outside of the shop, Eric can be found tending his garden, cooking its bounty, hiking in the Green Mountains, or exploring the network of trails and abandoned roads that run through the woods. In 2022, Eric and Bree were fortunate to find a forever home on the Cross Rivendell Trail, a day's walk from the Appalachian Trail. His 2010 Appalachian Trail thru-hike is the eponymous Long Walk.
